Fibroblast Generation and Expansion
Sampled’s team of experts can isolate fibroblasts from skin samples allowing you to fast-track your research project. By outsourcing to Sampled, you are ensuring fast and efficient fibroblast generation and expansion from your sample of interest.
What Is Fibroblast Generation and Expansion?
At Sampled, we isolate fibroblasts from skin biopsies. iPSCs are generated by inducing somatic cells like fibroblasts to revert to a stem cell state similar to embryonic cells.
iPSC generation can be performed using chemical or genetic methods and is used for a variety of applications. Clients availing of Sampled’s fibroblast isolation service typically use iPSCs for disease and development modeling, but the range of applications we can support is broad.
The processing of skin biopsy samples, culture of fibroblasts, and generation of iPSCs is a technically demanding and time-consuming process. At Sampled, our team of experts has vast experience working with skin biopsies, so you can be sure your sample is in good hands, whatever your research needs.
Why Use Sampled’s Fibroblast Generation and Expansion Services?
Sampled’s fibroblast generation and expansion services come with a variety of benefits to our clients.
Scale & Efficiency
Here at Sampled, our high-end facilities and expert team allow us to process many samples at scale. This is particularly useful if there are samples our client wants to be processed in parallel. If you have a time-sensitive sample or are performing revision experiments for a research article, outsourcing your fibroblast generation and expansion to Sampled is a great way to streamline the process.
Expertise
With our vast expertise, Sampled is ready to process your sample efficiently and safely while ensuring you get the best fibroblasts from your skin biopsy sample.
Time-Saving
Isolation of fibroblasts from skin biopsies requires technical expertise and time. By outsourcing your fibroblast isolation needs to Sampled you leave yourself free to focus on other projects while ensuring that your sample is processed correctly.
Fibroblast Generation and Expansion Applications
Fibroblast generation and expansion come with a variety of downstream academic and clinical research.
- Drug discovery
- Research studies
- Biomarker discovery

- Development modeling
How Does Fibroblast Generation and Expansion Work?
Sample Receipt
Our logistics team is ready to organize the delivery of your sample, ensuring it arrives in perfect condition for processing. Samples are processed immediately upon receipt and are always maintained at the appropriate temperature.
Digestion and Fibroblast Isolation
Once the sample is received by our team of scientists, it is enzymatically treated to break down the skin tissue into individual cells. The cells are then cultured to allow the fibroblast population to adhere and expand. Once there are sufficient numbers, the fibroblasts are frozen down. This ensures that there are enough cells for future experiments and provides a safety net if something goes wrong.
Quality Control
Our team of experts will perform quality control (QC) on your cells to ensure they are suitable for storage and future use. This includes viability and sterility testing. However, we also offer further QC options, depending on our clients’ requirements.
Further Processing
Clients may choose to receive the fibroblasts at this point if they wish to generate their own iPSCs. Again, Sampled is prepared to organize all the shipping and delivery requirements. If the clients wish, the iPSC generation can be performed by our team of in-house experts. iPSCs will then be expanded, frozen, and stored, ready to be shipped to the client whenever they require them. The fibroblast isolation process can take 2-3 months, depending on the quality and age of the sample.
