Cell Line Repositories
Sampled is the sole host and distributor of key biospecimen collections to scientists for a number of publicly available biorepositories. Biomaterials can be requested by scientists from small academic groups all the way up to large pharmaceutical organizations.
What Samples are Available from Cell Line and Genomic Repositories?
The samples in the publicly available biorepositories at Sampled have been collected, expanded, and stored with the intent of making them available to the wider scientific community for their research. Samples have been built over many years and come from sources like national institutes, research foundations, and companies.
These samples represent the diversity of humanity and offer researchers samples derived from individuals with a vast range of conditions from alcoholism and depression to Bipolar and Autism.
Materials include cell lines, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), fibroblasts, and DNA. While some biomaterials are only available in North America, others are available to scientists worldwide. Each sample is typically accompanied by extensive clinical data about the donor, like medical history, demographics, and disease status.

NINDS Human Cell and Data Repository
Here at Sampled, we are proud to be the sole distributor for the NHCDR. Although US based, biomaterials can be requested by scientists worldwide. Accessible to all researchers regardless of organization size or type. Cell sources currently include fibroblasts and/or iPSCs for Alzheimer’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Ataxia-telangiectasia, Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration (FTD), Huntington’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and healthy controls.

NIMH Repository and Genomics Resource
The NIMH Repository and Genomics Resource (NRGR) is one of several data repositories funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH). It is the only NIH repository that specializes in offering the research community DNA, RNA, and cell lines from large collections of individuals with psychiatric illness and psychiatrically normal controls.

The European Bank for Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (EBiSC)
The European Bank for Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (EBiSC) is a centralized biobank that maintains iPSCs and their associated data for use by both non-profit and commercial organizations. They currently store over 900 cell lines representing more than 40 diseases and address common challenges facing iPSC researchers by maintaining important GDPR regulatory and legal information.
To order or request your cell line of interest in the US, please contact EBiSC directly, at contact@ebisc.org.
Researchers in Europe may directly order their cell line from the EBiSC website below.

Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) Repository
In collaboration with the Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation (NLMFF), SFARI has funded the generation and maintenance of more than 200 iPS cell lines from individuals with either a genetic finding linked to autism or a related neurodevelopmental disorder with many (but not all) of them with a clinical diagnosis of autism. Donors are participants in the SFARI supported human cohorts, the Simons Simplex Collection (SSC) and Simons Searchlight. All iPS cell lines are available for distribution to approved researchers as part of the SFARI resources that can be requested through SFARI Base.
