Normalization

Ensure your samples are ready for analysis with Sampled’s normalization service. Sampled’s team of technical experts is ready to get your sample to the optimal concentration for downstream analysis.

What is Sample Normalization?

Normalization typically occurs immediately downstream of the extraction process of RNA and DNA.

Normalization means adjusting sample volume and concentration to match the requirements of specific applications. Sampled’s team can normalize a sample to match the client’s requirements or optimize it for one of Sampled’s many in-house analysis services. We can create a normalized aliquot while maintaining the stock for storage and further use.

Normalization is an essential component of many analytical workflows. Failure to properly normalize a sample can cause failure of downstream analysis, as well as wasting reagents, samples, and time. By trusting Sampled with your normalization needs you are ensuring your sample is properly handled and the correct concentration is used for analysis.

Why Use Sampled’s Normalization Service?

Expertise

Our in-house team of experts has vast experience in handling nucleic acids, particularly in preparation for downstream analysis. We regularly process low-concentration samples such as patient biopsy RNA and large volumes of DNA samples from clinical cohorts. Whatever your needs are, Sampled’s team of experts can handle it.

In-house Knowledge

By trusting Sampled with both your normalization and downstream analysis needs you are ensuring an optimized workflow from start to finish. We perform both of these processes in-house so there is a direct line of communication between the scientists performing the normalization and those performing the analysis. This ensures that your sample is normalized to the latest requirements of our constantly evolving in-house platforms.

Streamlined

Our normalization process is fully automated and is integrally linked to our nucleic acid extraction service and downstream analysis services. This minimizes the handling of your sample and means less shipping to third parties. RNA is especially vulnerable to degradation during handling processes. By outsourcing your sample normalization needs to Sampled, you are ensuring your samples are of the best possible quality for analysis.

Normalization Applications

Normalization is central to Sampled’s analytical workflow and its applications are virtually endless.

  • Disease identification
  • Diagnostics
  • Drug discovery
  • Pharmacogenomics
  • Clinical trials
  • Research studies
  • Biomarker discovery
  • Population health studies
  • Novel genome assembly
  • Agrigenomics
  • Disease modeling
  • Development modeling

How Does Normalization Work?

Sample Receipt

DNA and RNA can either be extracted in-house at Sampled or sent to us pre-extracted by our client. We keep all samples at the appropriate temperature during handling and the sample undergoes a round of quality control to establish the concentration and ensure it is fit for downstream analysis.

Normalization

The parameters for normalization depend on the concentration/volume of the sample, the requirements of our downstream platforms, and the client’s specifications. Our normalization process is carried out by one of our technical experts using high-end automated instrumentation. Automation ensures efficient and accurate normalization.

Quality Control

We routinely perform additional quality control checks on our DNA and RNA to ensure the correct concentration has been attained and the quality is sufficient for analysis.

Further Processing

After normalization and QC, the sample can be immediately aliquoted, and then stored, shipped, or sent to the laboratory for analysis. Our logistics team can organize shipping, leaving you free to focus on managing your project.

What Are the Input Requirements for Normalization?

The input requirements for normalization are DNA and RNA. This can be extracted in-house or sent to us by our clients.
