Piscataway, NJ – Sampled, an integrated analytical laboratory and biorepository service provider, has joined the inaugural group of companies as a Founding Member of the New Jersey Innovation Hub (NJIH), powered by Portal, as it officially opens at the Health & Life Science Exchange (HELIX) in New Brunswick.
Innovation hubs are playing an increasingly important role across the life sciences ecosystem, as biotech and pharmaceutical organizations, together with academic research teams, seek more integrated and collaborative environments to accelerate advances in science and technology.

The NJIH, funded by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and powered by Portal, was established to advance collaboration across New Jersey’s health and life sciences ecosystem. The hub is ideally located in the heart of New Brunswick’s Rutgers research community, near two major hospitals and the Rutgers Cancer Institute, creating a strong environment for collaboration across healthcare, academic research, and life sciences innovation. Through Portal, the innovation hub is connected to a nationwide network of hubs, creating direct pathways for both state-level and national collaboration.
Sampled joins the NJIH on the 9th floor of HELIX 1, which features the Johnson & Johnson Town Hall and will also be home to 16 startups. The hub sits within a vibrant healthcare and research community that includes the Rutgers Health Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJACTS). Sampled will support innovation and healthcare research at the NJIH by providing compliant biospecimen storage and analytics at its nearby headquarters laboratory.
Sampled’s CAP-accredited biorepository in Piscataway, only 6 miles from the HELIX, offers 100,000 square feet of capacity for -80°C freezers and LN2 tanks, along with scalable ambient, 4°C, and -20°C storage capabilities. Sampled offers comprehensive sample processing and multiomics analysis services, including blood fractionation, next-generation sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and histology. These capabilities support the needs of both startup companies and clinical research teams, enabling Sampled to support studies to complex programs while helping reduce capital expenditures.
“Innovation happens faster when the right people, expertise, and resources come together in one place,” said Dr. Michael Sheldon, Senior Director of Government Programs at Sampled. “The New Jersey Innovation Hub has the potential to become a catalyst for the next generation of breakthroughs in healthcare and life sciences, and we are excited to help provide the infrastructure that supports that innovation.”
