What is Sample Data Management?
Sample data management means the secure cataloging of all data related to a client’s sample.
This can exist at multiple levels such as:
- Sample ID/barcoding

At Sampled, we ensure all of your sample data is accurate, recorded promptly, stored securely, and readily available. Our internal laboratory information management system (LIMS) holds all of our data, which can be accessed easily via our client-facing SampledSphere system. SampledSphere can be tailored to each client, meaning they receive their data in a format of their choosing. This customizable formatting streamlines the research process and gives our clients the flexibility to manage their data exactly how they see fit.

How Does Sample Data Management Work?
Sample Receipt
Before a sample is received we enter an electronic manifest into our LIMS system. We use this manifest to ensure that every shipment we receive is complete and accounted for. From here, our data management service keeps track of your sample whether it’s sent to our biorepository or one of our analytical pipelines.
Bioinformatics
Data generated from our analytics services such as next-generation sequencing is handled by our in-house team of bioinformaticians. From here we can send data directly to the client or analyze it in-house. At Sampled, we use various pipelines to analyze data. We integrate cloud services like Illumina BaseSpace, DNAnexus, and our in-house analysis pipeline to ensure clients are getting the most from their data.
Biorepository
The data for samples stored in our biorepository are entered into our LIMS system. This data includes sample barcoding, physical descriptors, sample type, and physical storage location. Our robust security system and backup generators ensure that your sample and the associated data are safe and accessible whenever you need them.
Downstream Processing
We securely store all of the data associated with your sample/project which will always be available to our client. If our client wishes for data to be removed from our systems after the completion of a project we also perform this service. At Sampled, you are always in control of your data.
Sample Data Management Input Requirements
We are prepared to handle any quantity or type of data associated with or generated from our client’s samples. All data is securely stored and freely and easily accessible by our clients through the SampledSphere interface.
