The new five-year award extends Sampled’s role in generating high-quality genomic data for one of the world’s largest research programs of its kind.
Piscataway, NJ – Sampled, an integrated analytical laboratory and biorepository service provider, has been awarded a five-year contract valued at up to $27.1 million from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide genomics analyses for the Million Veteran Program (MVP).
Veterans are at greater risk than the general population for developing a range of health conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), cardiovascular disease, and certain types of cancer. The MVP is focused on understanding how molecular factors, lifestyle, and service-related experiences contribute to these risks, generating insights into long-term health and disease patterns that benefit both veterans and the broader population. Published findings from the program have improved understanding of factors contributing to conditions such as PTSD, artery disease, suicide risk, stroke, and substance use. Since its launch in 2011, the program has surpassed one million enrolled veterans, making it one of the world’s largest research programs of its kind.
Building on years of work supporting the MVP, Sampled has provided array genotyping, long-read whole genome sequencing, DNA methylation analysis, and proteomics assays for the program. Equipped with multiple PacBio Revio long-read sequencing systems, Sampled is uniquely positioned to deliver robust and high-throughput long-read sequencing workflows and is among the largest users of the Revio platform in the US. The renewed VA contract to support the MVP highlights Sampled’s ability to provide reliable, high-quality support for high-stakes longitudinal studies. It also reflects Sampled’s experience managing and analyzing valuable biospecimens generously donated by program participants.
In addition to advanced analytical tools such as the PacBio Revio, Sampled provides integrated CAP-accredited biobanking services, CLIA-licensed laboratory operations, and scalable automated processing for diverse sample types. Together, these capabilities enable end-to-end support for large-scale longitudinal research programs and clinical trial support.
