Grant Overview

- Fluorescent probe hybridization, high‑resolution imaging, and decoding
- Delivery of cell boundaries, transcript locations, gene expression profiles, and spatial map of cells and transcripts
This grant supports projects using the standard pre‑designed Xenium Prime 5K panel. The addition of custom panels may incur additional costs.
Xenium Prime 5K Technology
Xenium Prime 5K is a high‑plex spatial gene expression platform that measures ~5,000 genes directly within intact tissue, preserving the precise location of every cell. By capturing RNA molecules in situ, it reveals which cells are present, what they express, and how they interact within their native microenvironment.

The 5K panel enables:
- Comprehensive profiling of major cell types and fine‑grained cell states
- Mapping of cellular neighborhoods and disease‑associated niches
- Discovery of ligand–receptor interactions and spatial signaling programs
- Identification of spatially restricted transcriptional changes that drive pathology
This technology empowers researchers to answer questions about tissue organization, disease mechanisms, immune architecture, developmental transitions, and more.

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a project description or abstract (maximum 500 words) that includes:
- The scientific problem and specific biological question
- Why spatial single‑cell profiling is essential
- A brief experimental design
- Expected outcomes
- The broader impact (e.g., disease mechanisms, therapeutic targeting, biomarker discovery)
- A clear explanation of how Xenium Prime 5K uniquely enables the proposed work
Restrictions or Exclusions
Projects may be excluded if they involve:
- Non‑standard assay configurations
- Non‑human samples
- Tissue types incompatible with Xenium workflows
- Applicants or institutions outside the United States
Terms & Conditions
By submitting an application to, or otherwise entering, the Xenium Prime 5K Services Grant, the applicant agrees, on behalf of itself and its institution or company, to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (including the Program Details set forth herein) and by the 10x Genomics Terms and Conditions of Grants and Contests, available here (10X Genomics Terms), which are incorporated herein by reference; provided, however, that in the event of any conflict between those terms and the terms set forth herein, the terms set forth herein shall control.
Infinity BiologiX LLC d/b/a Sampled (“Sampled”) and 10x Genomics are referred to individually as “Sponsor” and collectively as “Sponsors”. The following information constitutes “Program Details” (as defined in the 10X Genomics Terms):
- Applicants may submit only one proposal.
- Late or incomplete submissions are automatically disqualified.
- Award is non‑transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash or alternative services.
- Decisions of the panel are final and not subject to appeal.
- Sampled and 10X Genomics may publicly announce the winner’s name, institution, and project title.
- After the Xenium assay is completed and data have been delivered, any remaining samples will be discarded after 30 days unless the applicant requests that the samples be returned or that they remain stored at the Sampled facility. The applicant may incur charges for shipping or for long‑term storage depending on their chosen option.
- Applicant owns data resulting from Sponsors’ analysis of applicant’s samples. Notwithstanding the foregoing, ownership of all background intellectual property of each Sponsor, including any derivatives of, improvements, alterations or enhancements to such background intellectual property are and shall remain the respective Sponsor’s property. Sponsors may request anonymized, non‑proprietary excerpts for marketing with permission.
- Sponsors agree not to disclose publicly any unpublished resulting data owned by applicant without written consent.
- Applicant must provide samples meeting Sponsors’ sample H&E and RNA extraction quality control specifications to move forward with Xenium HD workflow. Poor‑quality samples may be rejected by Sponsors.
- RNA Extraction QC: For FFPE Tissue a DV200 score (percentage of RNA fragments >200 nucleotides) of ≥ 30% is required. For fresh frozen tissue, a RIN score of ≥ 7.0 is required.
- H&E Staining QC: A high‑quality tissue region should demonstrate strong cellularity and density, with abundant healthy, intact cells that support robust transcript capture, while also maintaining clear tissue architecture in which cell structures, layers, and overall morphology remain well preserved.
- Misrepresentation, ethics violations, or failure to meet sample requirements may void the award.
- Sponsors agree not to disclose unpublished scientific content related to applicant’s samples without written consent.
- Awardee agrees to acknowledge Sponsors in any resulting publications related to awardee’s samples.
- The following warranties apply to all human samples provided by applicant to Sponsors (“Human Samples”). Applicant represents, warrants and covenants to Sponsors with respect to all Human Samples and any associated data provided to Sponsors:
- Applicant has obtained, and shall maintain in effect, all informed consents, authorizations and permissions required under applicable law from each individual donor or subject from whom such Human Samples or data are derived, in each case sufficient in scope to permit Sponsors’ analysis of the Human Samples;
- Applicant has obtained all approvals of any institutional review board, ethics committee or other governmental authority, and all other regulatory authorizations, licenses and permits, required under applicable law for the collection, transfer to Sponsors, processing and use of such Human Samples and data;
- prior to providing any such Human Samples or data to Sponsors, applicant has de-identified the same in accordance with applicable law (including, to the extent applicable, the de-identification standards under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and its implementing regulations (“HIPAA”)), such that no Human Samples or data provided to Sponsors constitute personally identifiable information or protected health information; and
- the collection of, transfer to Sponsors of such Human Samples and data do not and will not violate any applicable law or infringe or misappropriate the rights (including privacy rights) of any person
- Sponsors are not liable for delays, sample degradation due to improper shipping, or downstream research outcomes. Sponsors make no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the fitness of the associated services for any particular research purpose or the accuracy, completeness, or scientific validity of any data or results generated. Sponsors are not liable for any failure of the assay or instrumentation to perform as expected due to factors outside Sponsors’ reasonable control, including but not limited to sample quality, tissue type variability, or biological complexity of the applicant’s samples. The grant does not include any license to third-party intellectual property, and Sponsors are not responsible for any third-party intellectual property claims arising from the applicant’s use of the data or results. Applicant is solely responsible for ensuring that its research activities comply with all applicable laws, regulations, institutional policies, and ethical and informed consent requirements, including those relating to the collection, handling, and use of biological samples.
